Steps to Enable Root Login in Ubuntu 12.04 (Precise Pangolin)

Being working as System Admin, we always use of putty to access server or any Linux box. Just booting up Linux and getting ping reply and we used to connect Linux OS through putty. But in some circumstace we need to login physically into operating system. Bydefault, root login is disabled so we need to enable it. This can be done by below steps

Login as normal user and enter below command in the terminal

sudo sh -c ‘echo “greeter-show-manual-login=true” >> /etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf’

 Logout and enter with root credential…….
